When I first tried it out at home the unit worked fine twice. I’ll give it a try and let you know the results. Terry, I did search using “holux” and “prolific” and the computer found some files that I missed. Thanks again Terry, I can’t get to that point because whenever I plug it in my computer freezes. It recoognized the device and gave me a choice to look for drivers. It will be similar to this screen capture. I’m sure for those who use MicroSnot OS computers this thing works.

A great little product for map reading and tracking with lap top computers.
It appears that the device is working fine since the red light works as it is supposed. The Holux navigator also re-acquire satellite signals in ms. I than rebooted and reinstalled the latest driver and then connected the receiver and Windows than found the driver successfully installed it.
Next I went to Holux’s web site and downloaded the latest driver even though it implied it might work with Win 7 it didn’t address at all the Bit issue.
I then looked in all the categories and could not locate the device. The Holux GR is very compact, fits nicely in a port light where it always provides my position, and with its USB cable is hopux to hook up to my laptop.

I tried it in Win7 32 bit and it appears to work as promised. Maybe a search for ‘prolific’ or ‘holux’ will track it down. I finally uninstalled the driver went into Device manager and brought up the driver tab of the red X’d device and clicked Uninstall and was presented with the opportunity to check a box to physically remove the drivers from the system, which I did.
If you could try a BU before buying it, that would be safer.

Any suggestions – I am a complete loss on how to proceed. I have used ordinary Garmin navigator befor but cost of it several times more than Holux. You may also like. When I first tried it out at home the unit worked fine twice.
At the time I had it my system detected it and received data but I had gt gotten the maping software working at the time on a new laptop and system. I also sent hllux e-mail to Holux Tech Support. Do not purchase this item for Linux or Unix systems! Show More Show Less.

This Holux navigator is water-proof and functions effectively in varying degrees of altitude, velocity, and jerks. Is there another computer you could try it on?
Maybe for MicroSnot but I’ll never now. The computer freezes about 2 seconds after I plug in the device. Strange – I have 3 USP ports. So I purchased another make that I had before but gave to a friend who went on an emergency expedition.
This Holux GPS receiver is a small-sized wonder that tracks up to 20 satellites at a time and update position data every second. I now have the maping software and other software that works with the GPS, maping and other technical software for my work.
Install soft, connect item to usb and use! I got the same result – computer froze 2 seconds after inserting the device. At least 3 of them have purchased one.
There were no suspect files found so I ge the prolific driver as mentioned in the first post on this topic. I’m sure for those who use MicroSnot OS computers this thing works.
Thanks Terry, I uninstalled the old driver in the Control Panel. I searched the web and found a newer driver http:
